About
Yohnka...
Welcome! I am excited to be a part of Casteel's special education team! I look forward to watching each of my students grow and helping them reach their goals. It will be an amazing year for everyone.
My Education and Professional Background
I was born in Illinois (Go Cubs!), but was raised and have lived in Arizona most of my life. I graduated from the University of Arizona (Bear Down!) in 2015. Right out of college, I became a behavior therapist at a local autism and related disorders center. I started teaching in Chandler District in 2016 at Auxier Elementary as the 3rd-6th grade self-contained teacher. I am so excited to be joining the Casteel staff this year!
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that every student has the potential to succeed no matter what. Providing them with a safe, comfortable and fun environment will allow them the opportunity to grow to their full potential. Every child is unique in their own way and brings something special to the classroom. My hope for each of my students is for them to graduate and become valued and successful adults within the community. I am a firm believer in keeping a strong, open line of communication between home and school. When the student, teacher, and parents work together, we can achieve great things!
