Welcome!

I am thrilled to be a part of such an innovative program. My goal is to create a warm and inviting atmosphere where each student can and wants to learn. Throughout the year, we will not only concentrate on academics, but we will also work on developing social and organizational skills which will serve the students inside and outside of the classroom.

My Education and Professional Background

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education in Biological Sciences from ASU. I am certified to teach high school biology and general science for grades 6-12 in Arizona. I am also endorsed for middle grade science and Structured English Immersion. I have 2.5 years of experience teaching high school science. During that time, I taught Biology and Conceptual Physics in Cave Creek and Honors Biology in Deer Valley. After relocating to the Southeast Valley, I taught Investigative Science (9th) and Physics at Queen Creek High School. In 2005, I chose to remain at home to raise my family. In 2008, I returned to teaching and became a substitute teacher for Patterson Elementary, Basha High School and Perry High School. I then became part of the EPA family during their first year in 2014.

My Educational Philosophy

Science is not only a body of knowledge but a way of thinking. My main goal is to instill curiosity in my students. Curiosity is that which initiates investigation. We will explore science through group activities which will promote reasoning and teamwork. Students will also develop their communication skills by explaining their findings through presentations and written assignments. These valuable lessons will help provide the students with the basic skills essential to their future successes.
