Welcome!
Welcome to Casteel High School! My name is Mrs. Rebecca Halstead and I am excited to be a Colt! Sports Medicine is a passion of mine and I’m privileged and ecstatic to be your student's teacher this year.
My Education and Professional Background
I was born and raised in the amazing state of Arizona. I received my BS from Grand Canyon University in Athletic Training with a Pre-Medicine minor. I have been in the sports medicine field since June 2014 mainly as an Athletic Trainer. In 2014 I was the head Athletic Trainer at Desert Ridge High School. In 2015, I was the head Athletic Trainer and taught sports medicine at Dobson High School before moving to Michigan. In Michigan I was the Athletic Trainer for Michigan Center HS/JH through Henry Ford Health Systems. The school’s athletic performance placed them at district and regionals in multiple sports yearly with girls’ basketball competing in the final four in 2018. My husband and I decided to move back to Arizona to be closer to family and we couldn’t be happier. I joined the Colt team in July 2020 and I'm excited to see what this year brings!
My Educational Philosophy
My classrooms are spaces for investigation and discovery. I favor practical lessons in which students get hands-on experience in the field of sports medicine. I set high standards and high expectations by encouraging growing mindsets among the students. All my students know what I expect from them and to try their hardest and strive for improvement every day.
