This marks my nineteenth year teaching. I love teaching and am looking forward to the 2018-2019 school year.
My Education and Professional Background
I received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from western Oregon University. I then went on to work in the field as a treatment specialist for adolescent girls. After a time, I decided I wanted to be a teacher. I received a Master's Degree from Oregon State University and have been teaching since 2000. The majority of my career has been spent teaching English (seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth grades). For the past five years, I have had the opportunity to teach AP/DE Psychology.
My Educational Philosophy
"It's relationships not programs that change children. A great program simply creates the environment for healthy relationships to form between adults and children. Young people thrive when adults care about them on a one-on-one level and when they also have a sense of belonging to a caring community." -- Bill Milliken
